Haitian Relief Effort

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has always had a special relationship with Haiti.  When the United States needed someone to map the country and its political landscape, they called on a QueColonel Charles Young was named Special Military Attache to Haiti, at a time when the U.S. had no inroads in the country.  Stationed in Port Au Prince, Haiti, Colonel Charles Young fulfilled his assignment with honor. 


When the earthquake hit Haiti, the Chicagoland Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. heard the call, and in four days organized a Haitian Relief Drive on Saturday, January 16th, at the Omega Center in Hazel Crest, Illinois.  Food, Clothes, Medicine, and other much needed goods were donated by Fraternity members, community leaders, and members of other organizations and businesses, such as The Uplift Foundation, Joseph Assignment Global Relief Initiative, Dr. Alexis Felder, Bro. Rev. Dr. Trunell Felder, Jamie Gill, Clintex Laboratories, Steve and Josie Luster, Operation Safe Passage, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, The Richton Park Raiders Youth Athletic Association, Tal McGregory, Illinois State Representative Will Davis, Alderman Thaddeus Jones, State Senator Toi Hutchinson, Bro. Mayor Ronald Donaldson and many others.

On Wednesday, Jan 20th, Food, Clothes, and Medical supplies landed in the Dominican Republic, and was transported to Haiti with four missionaries from Joseph Assignment.  Almost immediately, the medical supplies were put into use at a makeshift clinic.  A man’s life and an emergency C-Section was successful performed with the medical supplies that you donated.  More information and photos and video will be posted shortly. 


100% monetary donations go directly to feed and clothe the people of Haiti via The Joseph Assignment.
